Robert Bruce was a well-known king of Scotland. Once the English attacked his country. He fought boldly for the freedom of his beloved country. He fought many battles against the English but could not defeat them. In one of the battles, he was defeated and ran for the safety of his life.
The English soldiers persuaded him. The king entered a forest to save his life. He heaved a deep sigh of relief. Suddenly he saw a cave. Considering the cave was a safe place, he at once went into the cave. He rested for a short time and then started thinking over the misfortunes of his life. He was sad and disappointed.
While thinking about his failure, he saw a spider. The king thought that the poor spider would give up its efforts in despair. But the spider did not lose heart. It went on trying to reach its goal. This time it succeeded in its aim and reached its cobweb. The incident encouraged the king. He learned a golden lesson from a tiny creature. He made up his mind to try once more. He came out of the cave with new determination and courage. He collected the scattered army and attacked the English with full force. This time he was able to defeat them. He was crowned with victory by virtue of high morale.
